Why the Great Harlot called Babylon Matters
Before addressing the nature and identity of this mysterious entity, a bit on its relevance is in order. Most notably, the empowerment of the New Babylon of end time prophecy will probably be the most obvious signal of the beginning of the final days of this age. It will so obviously fit the biblical description that those who earnestly concern themselves with such things will have no trouble recognizing the significance of it as arguably the. Those who do will at least have a chance to escape the pervasive delusion of peace and safety befalling most…as they face the wrath of both God and man.…I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her mmorality, and upon her forehead a name was written, a mystery, “BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” (Revelation 17:3-5)
The woman called “Babylon the Great” in this picture represents the preeminent political, economic, and spiritual power in the world before the cataclysmic events prophesied to mark the end of this age of grace befall the human race. Therefore, the rise of this power will be amongst the earliest signals of the nearness of the biblically proscribed, mostly horrific events leading to the establishment of Yahshua’s kingdom in a very different world.
Moreover, as notable as “New Babylon’s” rise to unprecedented power and glory will be in the context of human history, it’s sudden fiery demise by a nuclear attack (or equivalent) will be like a cosmic starting gun sounding the beginning of the end of this age. Who or whatever New Babylon is, the overthrow of its globally dominant power will be the front page event of all history. Thereafter, the mysterious timetable of events detailed in the books of Daniel and Revelation will unfold precisely as predicted by the ancient prophets.
In a nutshell, the relevance of the biblical New Babylon is that virtually everything written of the last days of this age begins and/or relates directly to it. While this naturally draws the attention of those anticipating the fulfillment of those prophecies, few will even believe the correlation is true, no matter how perfectly men living thousands of years ago depicted it. It will be at the center of the world’s attention anyway, though only because of its notoriety, not its biblical significance.
According to the intentions of those who will cause it, New Babylon’s sudden fiery demise will set in motion the campaign to coronate their “messiah”, the notorious “man of sin…son of death” commonly called the antichrist.
